December 8th

December 8th

When the fallout of December 8th tears their world apart, two Japanese American baseball players, Lorne and George, must fight to hold onto their brotherhood and prove their loyalty as America plunges into World War II.

December 8th GENRE: Historical Epic / War Drama

THE STORY: Set against the sweeping backdrop of World War II, December 8th is a deeply emotional exploration of brotherhood, loyalty, and the immediate, fracturing fallout of Pearl Harbor. The narrative centers on two young men from the California Central Valley: Lorne, a white American who rises to become a battle-tested Sergeant, and George, a Japanese American who must navigate the profound injustice of internment before volunteering to fight for a nation that questions his allegiance. From the innocence of a local baseball diamond to the blood-soaked, volcanic black sands of Iwo Jima, their parallel journeys converge in a gripping testament to the enduring bonds of friendship forged and tested in the darkest chapters of history.

THE TONE: Visceral, poignant, and sweeping. The script balances the gritty, unflinching combat realism of the Pacific Theater with the deeply intimate, character-driven heartbreak of a homefront torn apart overnight. It carries the epic, boots-on-the-ground weight of Saving Private Ryan blended with the emotional depth and historical tragedy of Snow Falling on Cedars.

WHY THIS STORY NOW: We are living in an era of intense polarization, where communities can be quickly fractured by fear and the definition of patriotism is constantly debated. December 8th uses the lens of history to explore these highly relevant themes. By focusing on the unwavering brotherhood between Lorne and George—two men divided by government mandate but united by shared humanity and sacrifice—this screenplay offers a timely, powerful reminder that true loyalty is defined by action and character, not heritage. It is a unifying story of resilience that modern audiences are hungry for.
